Another Friday Night
I'm not feeling the Friday festive spirit. Traditionally, Friday is our Family Pizza Movie Night. Original, no? After a day of dragging kids all over Vancouver (my own kids... just to be clear... not out dragging around random children), I'm just kinda phoning in the Fun Mommy thing. I'm not feeling fun. Mostly just tired and impatient. My solution? Costco pizza and another viewing of The Princess Bride. It'll be good.

Getting A Grip
It seems I'm especially susceptible to doom and gloom thinking whilst sick. Today I'm finally starting to feel a bit better, mentally and physically.
Realistically, I'm in pretty good shape. I'm healthy (other than the occassional rhinovirus). I'm pretty tough (if I do say so myself). I have a great husband who has a good job. It looks like we will be able to re-fi into a better mortgage with a significantly lower interest rate (cross fingers). I'm stressed about Christmas - but it's not like I have to run out and get a job so my kids can have presents. I just have to budget. There are worse things. Besides, pretty much everyone else on my list is getting homemade stuff. And they'll like it better than anything I could buy for them (or at least they'll know better than to say otherwise). It'll be OK. Better than OK. I just need to keep that in mind and lay off the news a bit.
Muggle is crawling all over the place, climbing up on everything. Today she discovered the dog food. Oy. I don't know where to put it that WunderMutt can get to it but Muggle can't.
Life goes on... whether I chill out and enjoy it or not.

Slow Start
OK,
The last few days have been huge, for me, in the realm of personal growth and actualization, but I'm not ready to sit down and tell everyone all about it. Too much processing left to do, you see.
Talk amongst yourselves. I'll give you a topic: Kids are people, and actually MEMBERS of SOCIETY!!! :o)

And Now For Something Completely Different...
G-Rex ran to me. "Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" she called breathlessly.
"What's wrong?" I asked, dropping the laundry I had been sorting into the washer.
"Mommy! Ursa has white stuff all over her head!"
"White stuff? What is it?"
"I don't know! Will she be OK?"
"Could it be spit-up?" I suggested.
Her eyebrows furrowed as she looked up at me skeptically. "Um. I don't think so."
Together we made our way to the living room, calling the WunderMutt... who saw us coming, tucked her tail between her legs and scampered into her kennel with a plaintive whine. After a little coaxing she made her way out of her sanctuary. Sure enough, there was a thick white substance all over the top of her head.
I looked over at the baby gym thingy where GERD-Girl squealed in delight and waved her arms at me. Her chin bore a lumpy layer of baby puke which spread down the front of her jammies.
And over the expanse of the baby gym.
And onto the proximal surface of the coffee table.
Miraculously, there was no vomit on the carpet in front of the baby gym.
Where the poor dog had been resting.

Namaste
I love it when I come across a person or story that gives me that little extra spark of faith in humanity.

Ahem...
So tonight I was telling my husband about The Urban Princess' comment on my last blog entry. He laughed... a little too much. I admit I might have been a little defensive. But I have to laugh about his final statement on the matter.
"No honey, you're not OCD."
"I know!"
"In your case it's OCO"
"OCO?"
"Obsessive-Compulsive ORDER."
Hmph.

It's Like Giving Up AOL
I've been blogging for about three years, now.
First I tried Xanga. It was going swimmingly until something happened (I don't even remember what that something was, now) and I deleted the account. For the past two years I've been doing the MySpace thing. It's fun, but not really the venue I'm looking for.
So now I'm doing a "real" blog - out in the middle of the cyber wasteland. It reminds me of the transition from AOL to plain ol' WWW. At first opening up the browser seemed so... barren. No "You've got MAIL!" or billions if IMs popping up. Just a home page of nothing. Undirected.
And unlimited.
